This helps your little one understand the importance of not wasting water and only turning on the faucet when necessary.
Proper Storage
Many important plumbing fixtures, such as water heaters, are installed in storage areas such as laundry rooms and closets. If this is true in your home, be sure that you remain mindful of how you are storing objects in these areas. Combustible and flammable items should never be placed too close to water heaters, especially gas models that use flames to heat water. Children’s toys, paints and cleaning products could start a fire if placed too close.
Flushing the Toilet
We all know it’s not much fun to have a clogged toilet. Unfortunately, most of us know that all too well because we have all experienced it, so chances are good that your kids will too. While they are young, stress the importance of flushing after they use the toilet. Be sure to let them know that if it doesn’t flush all the way or the water starts rising after they flush, that they should come straight to you for assistance. Once they get a little bit older, you can teach them how to properly use a plunger to unclog a toilet.
